When looking for a refreshing treat to fend off the heat, you could get nostalgic and turn to those multi-colored ice pops or plastic-sleeved bars of your youth. While tasty, those snacks are basically chemicals amped up with food coloring. If you want something delicious, natural, and based on an old family recipe, you’ve got one option: Del’s.
Del’s makes one thing: frozen lemonade. And fantastically, they make it in eight different flavors. This is head and shoulders above some store-bought ice pop. It’s made from real fruit--see those little lemon bits in there? And Del’s has been doing this for a while. Back in 1840 an Italian man named DeLucia began mixing fresh summer lemons and some sugar with winter snow he’d packed away in a cave. DeLucia’s descendants brought his secret recipe to the States and planted themselves in Rhode Island, turning the Old World treat into a New World summer staple. Now, at the Del’s storefront in Venice, you get to benefit from all those years of know-how. Eat it solid or shake it up and drink it down.
